Transfer credits for students who entered the Protection, Security and Investigation Diploma program prior to Fall 2019 will be awarded on a course-by-course basis.

Requirements

To qualify for this pathway, students must:

  • Successfully complete Fleming College’s Protection, Security and Investigation Diploma program;
  • Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

  • 0.5 PLCW 2002H - Community Problem-Solving and Analysis
  • 0.5 PLCW 2005H - Diversity and Exclusion
  • 0.5 PLCW 2010H - Conflict Resolution
  • 0.5 PLCW 2100H - Research Methods in Policing and Community Well-being
  • 0.5 PLCW 3002H - Mental Health, Addiction, and Community Well-being
  • 0.5 PLCW 3003H - Violence in the Community
  • 0.5 PLCW 3007H - Problem-solving in a Complex and Diverse Community
  • 0.5 SOCI 1002H - Introduction to Sociology II: Exploring Social Life
  • 0.5 additional Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 2000 level or beyond
  • 2.5 additional credits, including:
    • At least 2.0 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s);
    • No additional credits at the 1000 level.

*Additional notes: 

  • Fulfilling the requirements above lead to a Bachelor of Arts in Policing and Community Well-being. Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Policing and Community Well-being are required to complete 14.0 credits at Trent University. Consultation with an academic advisor and the Academic Calendar about differing requirements are strongly encourage.
  • Students may take only one of PLCW 4004Y or 4005Y for credit.
  • CHYS-COMM 2010H and SOCI 2151H are equivalent to PLCW 2100H for program requirements but do not count as Policing and Community Well-being credit. Students who have successfully completed CHYS-COMM 2010H or SOCI 2151H are not permitted to take PLCW 2100H but must substitute another PLCW course at the 2000 level or beyond in order to fulfill degree requirements. 
  • Students are encouraged to include one of SOCI 2430H - Sociology of Gender, 2610H - Deviance and Social Control, or 2615H - Crime and Society as electives for the degree.

Cancellation Policy

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
