  • The minimum grade required to transfer a course to Trent University is 70% for college applicants and 60% for university applicants.

  • Trent University awards assigned (equivalencies), unassigned departmental, and unassigned general credits in recognition of previous learning.

  • The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Trent University's residency policy. The policy states that the total number of non-Trent University credits must not exceed 10 credits (out of 20) for an Honours degree or 7.5 credits (out of 15) for a General degree.

  • Trent University will consider courses completed within the past 10 years for transfer credit. Courses taken more than 10 years ago will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Trent University:

    • Trent University does not grant PLAR credits. Credits granted by another institution on the basis of PLAR are not transferable to Trent University.
  • Not applicable.

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your Trent University transcript with a grade of "P" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

  • All transfer students will automatically be assessed for transfer credit at Trent University.

    Follow these steps to receive the most transfer credits possible: 

    • After applying to Trent University, you may be required to submit supporting documentation. Required documents will be posted to your myTrent account. Please send all documentation to:

    • When receiving an offer of admission, transfer students will be notified of their transfer credit pre-evaluation. Course syllabi from previous postsecondary institutions may be required to have further courses assessed for additional transfer credits.
  • There is no fee required for a transfer credit assessment at Trent University.

  • Documentation required to have previous postsecondary courses assessed for transfer credit at Trent University includes: 

    • Official transcript(s)
    • Course syllabi for any courses for which Trent does not have a current transfer credit evaluation for
  • An application form is not required at Trent University. Applicants who have previously attended a postsecondary institution are automatically assessed for transfer credit. The results of all transfer credit assessments are posted on the myTrent Portal.

  • Transfer credit is automatically assessed at Trent University. Students must disclose all previous postsecondary education (transcripts) upon submitting their admissions application. All required supporting documentation should be submitted in accordance with the deadlines associated with your program and semester of admission.

  • A transfer credit decision at Trent University will take approximately 4-6 weeks to process after course syllabi are submitted.

  • A transfer credit decision can be reviewed/appealed at Trent University by contacting the Admissions Office in writing before the end of the first academic year of study in which you are admitted. You can expect a response within 10 working days from the date the reassessment is submitted. endeavours to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding credit transfer; however, changes and updates to transfer opportunities happen on an ongoing basis. Students MUST check with the institution directly before applying to any program.
