Transfer pathways search

Students entering the Photography Diploma program in Fall 2025 or later will receive the following 4.5 transfer credits, provided they meet eligibility requirements:

• 0.5 MDST-CUST 1535H - Introduction to Media Studies
• 0.5 MDST 2186H - Workshop: Photography 
• 0.5 unassigned Business Administration credit at the 2000 level
• 2.0 unassigned Arts credits at the 1000 level
• 1.0 unassigned Arts credit at the 2000 level

Students who entered the Photography Diploma program prior to Fall 2025 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received through this pathway. 

To qualify for this agreement, students must:

• Successfully complete Durham College's Digital Photography Diploma program;
• Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

Program Residency Requirement

Students must complete the following 15.5 credits to fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Media Studies: 

• 0.5 MDST-COIS 1010H - The Digital World
• 1.0 MDST-CUST 2035Y - Media and Society; or MDST-CUST 2535H - Media and Society, and 3535H - Television Studies
• 1.0 Media Studies credit at the 4000 level
• 5.5. additional Media Studies credits
• 7.0 additional credits, including at least 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List

*Additional notes: For Media Studies and other credits without specified year levels, at least 6.0 must be completed at the 3000 level or above and no more than 4.0 are permitted at the 1000 level.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
