Students must complete the following 13.5 credits to fulfill requirements for the Policing and Community Well-being degree:

  • PLCW 1001H- Introduction to Policing and Community Well-being Part 1
  • PLCW 1002H - Introduction to Policing and Community Well-being Part 2
  • PLCW 2002H- Community Problem Solving and Analysis 
  • PLCW 2003H - Social Determinants of Health 
  • PLCW 2010H - Conflict Resolution 
  • PLCW 2100H- Research Methods in Policing and Community Well-being 
  • PLCW 3002H - Mental Health, Addiction and Community Well-being 
  • PLCW 3003H - Violence in the Community 
  • PLCW 3004H - Applications for Multidisciplinary Research 
  • PLCW 3007H - Problem-solving in a Complex and Diverse Community 
  • SOCI 1001H- Introduction to Sociology I: Critical Foundations 
  • 0.5 additional Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 2000 level or beyond
  • 1.0 Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 4000 level 
  • 6.5 additional credits, including:
    • at least 4.0 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s);

  • Courses listed above outline requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Policing and Community Well-being. Requirements will differ for students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (General) in Policing and Community Well-being. 
  • Students may take only one of PLCW 4004Y or 4005Y for credit.
  • CHYS-COMM 2010H and SOCI 2151H are equivalent to PLCW 2100H for program requirements but do not count as Policing and Community Well-being credit. Students who have successfully completed CHYS-COMM 2010H or SOCI 2151H are not permitted to take PLCW 2100H but must substitute another PLCW course at the 2000 level or beyond in order to fulfill degree requirements. 
  • Students are encouraged to include one of SOCI 2430H - Sociology of Gender, 2610H - Deviance and Social Control, or 2615H - Crime and Society as electives for the degree.

Cancellation Policy

The agreement will be reviewed annually, or sooner in the event of major curriculum changes in either partner’s programs. This agreement may be terminated by either party. In this case, notice of one year is required. In the event of termination of the agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.
