Students entering the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program in Fall 2023 or later will receive the following 8.0 transfer credits:

• 0.5 CHEM 1010H – Introductory Chemistry II
• 0.5 INDG 1001H - The Foundation for Reconciliation
• 0.5 PHYS 1000H – Foundations of Physics
• 0.5 UNIV 1003H - Exploring Great Problems Through Scientific Inquiry
• 0.5 unassigned Biology credit at the 2000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Forensic Science credit at the 1000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Forensic Science credit at the 2000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 1000 level
• 1.0 unassigned Science credit at the 2000 level

Students who entered the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program prior to Fall 2023 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received through this pathway.

To qualify for this pathway, students must:

• Successfully complete Fleming College's Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program;
• Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

Students are required to complete the following 12.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology:

• 0.5 BIOL 1020H - Foundations of Biodiversity
• 0.5 BIOL 2000H - Methods of Biological Inquiry
• 0.5 BIOL 2050H - Introduction to Genetics
• 0.5 BIOL 2070H - Cell Biology
• 0.5 BIOL 2260H - Introductory Ecology
• 0.5 BIOL 2600H - Evolution
• 0.5 MATH 1051H - Non-Calculus Statistics I: Elementary Probability and Statistics
• 0.5 MATH 1052H - Non-Calculus Statistics II: Elementary Statistical Methods
• 0.5 credit from the following:
  • 0.5 MATH 1006H - Calculus for the Biological Sciences
  • 0.5 MATH 1110H - Calculus I: Limits, Derivatives, and Integrals
• 4.0 Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or Biomedical Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
• 0.5 Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or Biomedical Science credit at the 2000 level or beyond in addition to the above, excluding BIOL 1050H and 1051H
• 0.5 credit in a humanities subject: Ancient Greek and Roman Studies, Arabic, American Sign Language, Canadian Studies, Chinese, Communications, Cultural Studies, English Literature, French, Gender and Social Justice, Greek, German, History, Italian, Latin, Linguistics, Philosophy, Russian, Spanish, UNIV courses (excluding UNIV 1003H), or Writing
• 2.5 additional credits.

*Additional notes: Courses without specified year levels must include at least 2.0 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s), and no more than 0.5 credits at the 1000 level.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
