Students entering the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program in Fall 2023 or later will receive the following 8.0 transfer credits:

• 0.5 CHEM 1000H - Introduction to Chemistry I
• 0.5 CHEM 1010H - Introduction to Chemistry II
• 0.5 CHEM 2300H - Biochemical Concepts
• 0.5 INDG 1001H - The Foundation for Reconciliation
• 0.5 PHYS 1000H - Foundations of Physics
• 0.5 UNIV 1003H - Exploring Great Problems Through Scientific Inquiry
• 0.5 unassigned Forensic Science credit at the 2000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Arts credit at the 1000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 1000 level
• 1.0 unassigned Science credit at the 2000 level

Students who entered the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program prior to Fall 2023 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received through this pathway.

To qualify for this pathway, students must:

• Successfully complete Fleming College's Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program;
• Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

Program Residency Requirement

Students are required to complete the following 12.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Forensic Science and Arts:

• 0.5 FRSC 1100H - Introduction to Canadian Justice
• 0.5 FRSC 2020H - Scientific Methodology in Forensic Science
• 0.5 FRSC 3100H - Trends in Forensic Science
• 2.5 additional Forensic Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
• 0.5 additional Forensic Science credits
• 1.0 Math credit at the 1000 level
• 6.5 additional credits, including electives and requirements for the second major

*Additional notes: 

• Courses without specified year levels must include at least 3.5 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s), and no more than 1.0 credit at the 1000 level. 
• Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Forensic Science and the second program chosen. Popular second majors for Forensic Science students include Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Sociology, though choices are not limited to these majors. A full list of available majors is available at http://trentu.ca/futurestudents. The number of credits required for the second major will vary, and as a result, students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to discuss options that will not extend studies beyond 12.0 credits at Trent. The same course may not simultaneously satisfy the requirements of both programs in a joint-major degree.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
