The Early Childhood Education fast-track is designed for graduates with a diploma or degree in a related field.  Graduates of the Child and Youth Care Advanced Diploma are eligible to apply for this pathway.  All qualified applicants will be required to attend an information session, complete a questionnaire, and attend an interview.  Successful applicants will be required to attend orientation courses for two weeks in June and a final placement in May of the following year.  Official transcripts are required to provide proof of graduation.  This program has a September start date only.  Apply to C130 at Ontario Colleges no later than June 1 to be considered for the program.

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology or Child Studies or with a minor (6 courses) within these degrees OR a diploma from either Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Care, Educational Support or Liberal Arts Programs.  Graduates from these programs may register for the "Accelerated" program and complete the Diploma requirements in one year. 

Graduates of the Early Childhood Education diploma with a cumulative average of B (3.0) or better are eligible.

Durham College agrees to facilitate the block transfer of students who have completed one full year in the Early Childhood Education diploma program at another Ontario College into the second year of the same program at Durham College.

Students must have successfully completed all courses within the first year of the Early Childhood Education diploma program of study (the first 2 academic terms) from the sending college and meet any other admission requirements for the program at Durham College (if applicable).

A minimum of one (1) academic year (2 semesters) of full-time study is required to complete the Early Childhood Education diploma program. Students will not be required to take more credits than are associated with the value of second year curriculum of the receiving college.

Durham College reserves the right to substitute courses that will enhance the students experience and preparedness on a student-by-student basis.

NOTE:  Fanshawe’s School of Community Studies is committed to supporting credit transfer and student mobility.  There may be differences in the number of credits granted based on variations in ECE programs across Ontario.  Fanshawe will work to maximize the academic credit granted to students transferring under this agreement and in most cases, students will not be required to exceed the semesters remaining to complete the credential with Fanshawe College, however, there might be exceptions to this rule based on curriculum alignment with the sending institution.

Graduates of a two-year Early Childhood Education diploma program at an Ontario College with a cumulative overall average of 70% or better will be considered for admission to Bachelor of Arts programs at Nipissing University.

Graduation from a public Ontario College Diploma program in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent, with an overall average of B/ 3.0 is required for admission consideration.

All applicants must have completed, prior to commencing the Early Childhood Studies program, three one-term (or equivalent) liberal studies courses, at the university level, with minimum B- / 70% grades in each course. One of the lower level liberal studies courses MUST be an English subject.

College courses CANNOT be used as substitutions for university level liberal studies courses.  University courses that have been used to fulfill Early Childhood Education diploma requirements CANNOT be used to meet the liberal studies requirements.  In addition, the liberal studies courses CANNOT be introductory level Psychology or Sociology.

Graduates of Lambton College’s Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma program with a minimum ‘B’ average or cumulative 3.0 (GPA) or 70% will be eligible to enter level six of Fanshawe College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree program.  Applicants must submit a transcript with their application. 

Graduates of Lambton College’s Business Administration- Marketing advanced diploma program with a minimum ‘B’ average or cumulative 3.0 (GPA) or 70% will be eligible to enter level six of Fanshawe College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Marketing) degree program.  Applicants must submit a transcript with their application. 

Graduates of Lambton College’s Business Administration- Human Resources advanced diploma program with a minimum ‘B’ average or cumulative 3.0 (GPA) or 70% will be eligible to enter level six of Fanshawe College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management) degree program.  Applicants must submit a transcript with their application. 

Graduates of Lambton College’s Business Administration advanced diploma program with a minimum ‘B’ average or cumulative 3.0 (GPA) or 70% will be eligible to enter level six of Fanshawe College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) degree program.  Applicants must submit a transcript with their application. 

Graduates of Lambton College’s Business diploma program with a minimum B+ average or cumulative 3.5 GPA or 75% will be eligible to enter level four of Fanshawe College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) degree program.  Applicants must submit a transcript with their application.

Graduates of all two-year Social Service Worker diploma programs with an average of 80% or better are eligible to apply to the Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology degree program at Laurentian University.

Graduates of two-year Developmental Services Worker Diploma programs with an overall average of 80% or better, are eligible to apply to the Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology degree program at Laurentian University.
