See how your courses can transfer with you or how to take a course at another institution and bring it back.

From institution: course information

Add your institution and course details—just one or several—and search to see where your credits might transfer in Ontario. All fields required are marked with an asterisk (*).

STEP 1: Choose the country of the institution where you studied or are currently studying.
Note: When using the “To institution” search type, the country is always restricted to Ontario / Canada.

    STEP 2: Select the institution where the course was completed/expected to be completed.
    Note: Institutions marked with a star (★) are ONCAT members. To learn more, visit the Ontario Institutions page.

      STEP 3: Begin typing the course name or code to filter your options. Then, select your course from the dropdown list.

      STEP 4: Enter the course number (e.g., “101” for a specific course, or “1” to view all courses starting with “1”, “2” for courses starting with “2”, etc.)

      STEP 5: Choose the year the course was completed.

      STEP 6: Click “Add this course” to include it in your search.

      STEP 7: Refine your search by selecting the institutions you’re interested in transferring your courses to. Choose one or more, or select “All” to view results from every institution.

      How to use the course transfer search tool

      Below you’ll find quick instructions to help you search for courses you’ve completed that might receive transfer credit or find courses at other schools that may count toward your current program.

      1. Choose your search type

      You’ve got two options. Pick the one that fits what you’re trying to do:

      • From institution – I’ve already taken courses and want to see where they might transfer.
      • To institution – I want to take a course at another institution and have it count toward my current program.

      • Use this option if you’ve already completed one or more courses and want to find out which Ontario colleges, universities or Indigenous Institutes may grant you credit.

        What you’ll need:

        • The institution and country where you took the course.
        • The subject and course number (e.g., PSYC 1000).
        • The year you completed it.

        How to search:

        1. Enter your course details and click Add this course.
        2. Add more courses if you want—there’s no limit!
        3. Use the option filters to narrow your results by institution type or a specific institution.
        4. Click Search for courses to see your results.

      • Use this option if you want to take a course at another institution and have it count toward your current program (this is often called a “letter of permission” or “transfer back”).

        What you’ll need:

        • The institution and country where you want to take the course.
        • The subject and course number.
        • The year you plan to take it.

        How to search:

        1. Enter the course you want to take and click Add this course.
        2. Add more if needed.
        3. Use the filters to narrow your search.
        4. Click Search for courses to see if your institution has an equivalent.

      You can add just one course or repeat the steps to include more.

      2. Use the optional filters to narrow your search

      You can select specific institutions you’re interested in to see if your course might transfer there—and what credit you could receive.

      3. When you’re ready, click “Search for courses” to see your transfer options

      Your results will show where your course(s) might count for credit at Ontario institutions.

      4. Need to change your courses?

      On the results page, click Search again on the left side of the page to add, remove, or edit the courses you’ve entered and start a new search.
