  • Courses taken at an accredited college are considered for transfer credit if you received a minimum grade of 70% or higher.

    Courses you have completed at another accredited university will be considered for transfer if you received minimum grade of 60% of higher.

  • Regardless of how many transfer credits one receives, all students must earn at least 10.0 credits (or two years' worth of coursework) at Laurier to apply to graduate with an Honours degree. This is in addition to any other required coursework completed at other post-secondary institutions. At least 5.0 of these 10.0 credits must be from senior-level courses (200-, 300- or 400-level). Academic advising is available to assist students in understanding and meeting their program and residency requirements.

  • Wilfrid Laurier University will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency. Transfer credits are automatically evaluated by the appropriate Faculty and granted upon admission in recognition of eligible coursework completed at another institution.

  • Wilfrid Laurier University does not grant PLAR credits. Credits granted by another institution based on PLAR not being transferable to Wilfrid Laurier University.

  • Not applicable.

  • Transfer credits will not be recorded on Wilfrid Laurier University transcripts or included in GPA calculation. However, if applicable, the sending institution name and a description that states “Transfer Credit Granted” will be noted.

  • An application form is not required at Wilfrid Laurier University. Applicants who have previously attended a postsecondary institution, and submit their official transcript from there, are automatically assessed for transfer credits.

  • Assessment of transfer credit is automatic at Wilfrid Laurier University. Students must disclose all previous postsecondary education (transcripts) upon submitting their admissions application. Students should submit all required supporting documentation by the deadlines associated with your program and semester of admission.

  • Transfer credit decisions at Wilfrid Laurier University are provided with your offer of admission, if applicable.

  • A transfer credit decision can be reviewed/appealed at Wilfrid Laurier University within 12 months from the date of admission or in the event of a program change.

    For a transfer credit reassessment, students must provide the official course syllabi (outlines) for the appropriate courses and submit them to transfercredit@wlu.ca.
