  • Review the admission requirements for all programs at Mohawk College:

  • The minimum grade required to transfer a course to Mohawk College is 60%, "C" or a passing grade, whichever is higher unless an articulation agreement exists stating otherwise.

  • Mohawk College awards advanced standing and exemptions (equivalencies) in recognition of previous learning.

  • The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Mohawk College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of the program of study must be completed at the College.

  • Mohawk College will generally consider courses completed within the past 5 years for transfer credit. Requests beyond 5 years will be considered at the discretion of the program area.

  • Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Mohawk College:

  • A PLAR assessment at Mohawk College costs $145.08 per course and the fee is non-refundable.

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your Mohawk College transcript as "E" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

  • Follow these steps in order to receive your transfer credit assessment at Mohawk College:

    • Go to MyMohawk.mohawkcollege.ca
    • Enter your Mohawk ID and password
    • Click on the “ACADEMICS” tab 
    • Under the section “Course tools” select “Apply for a Course Exemption
    • Enter the “Number Of Course Exemption Requests to create” 
    • Choose the Exemption Type
    • Choose the Course for Exemption 
    • Enter the Transferring Institution and Course Information
    • Submit your request
    • Visit The Square (at any campus) with your “Original and Sealed Transcript” along with the “Course Outline” from the originating institution
    • International documents must be evaluated by International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS) or World Education Services (WES)
    • Check the Student Exemption Report for your exemption request status
  • There is no fee required for a transfer credit assessment at Mohawk College.

  • The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Mohawk College includes:

    • Official transcript(s) in sealed envelope from originating institution
    • Course outline(s)
    • International documents must be evaluated by International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS) or World Education Services (WES)
    • Completed online application form
  • Apply to transfer credit at Mohawk College no later than the 10th day of classes (corresponding to the last day to add/drop courses for fee refund) of the semester pertaining to the exemption request. Late applications may be assessed at the discretion of the program area.

  • A transfer credit decision at Mohawk College will take 1-2 weeks to process if we are required to send your official transcript and course outline(s) to a Coordinator/Academic Representative for review. The more complete your information is, the more likely the decision can be made quickly.

  • A transfer credit decision cannot be reviewed/appealed at Mohawk College. All transfer credit assessments are final.
