The minimum grade required to transfer a course to Laurentian University is a "C+". The grade achieved will impact the number of transfer credits received. For example "C+", "B" and "A" will each receive varying amounts of transfer credit.

Laurentian University awards advanced standing in recognition of previous learning.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Laurentian University's residency policy. The policy states that at least 1 year/30 credits (normally the last year/30 credits) must be completed at the University.

Laurentian University will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency.

Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Laurentian University:
- Laurentian University does not grant PLAR credits, with the exception of the Law and Justice program.

There is no fee required for a PLAR assessment at Laurentian University for students in the Law and Justice program.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your Laurentian University transcript as total credits awarded and will not be included in GPA calculation.
Your academic summary will list the exact equivalencies that were awarded. For example, credits awarded may be listed as a course that exists at Laurentian University (PSYC 1105) or an equivalency (PSYC 9100). In both cases, the grade is not included in GPA calculation.

The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Laurentian University includes:

An application form is not required at Laurentian University. Applicants who have previously attended a postsecondary institution are automatically assessed for transfer credit.

Apply to transfer credit at Laurentian University by August 31st for open-enrolment programs and by February 5th for limited-enrolment programs.

Transfer credit decisions at Laurentian University are generally provided with your offer of admission, where possible. In some cases, a list of transferred credits will be provided shortly after the offer of admission.

A transfer credit decision cannot be reviewed/appealed at Laurentian University. All transfer credit assessments are final.
