  • 0.5 unassigned Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 2000 level

*Additional notes: Students who have completed Fleming College's Indigenous Perspectives Designation (IPD) are also eligible to receive transfer credit for INDG 1002H - Foundations of Modern Indigenous Life. Students who began studies in the Police Foundations Diploma program prior to Fall 2023 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received as part of this pathway.

- Successfully completed Fleming College’s Police Foundations Diploma;
- A minimum overall average of 75%.

Conditions de résidence dans le programme

Students must complete the following 8.5 credits to fulfill requirements for the Policing and Community Well-being degree:

  • 0.5 PLCW 1003H - Social Determinants of Health and Crime
  • 0.5 PLCW 2002H - Community Problem-Solving and Analysis
  • 0.5 PLCW 2100H - Research Methods in Policing and Community Well-being
  • 0.5 PLCW 3002H - Mental Health, Addiction, and Community Well-being
  • 0.5 PLCW 3003H - Violence in the Community
  • 0.5 PLCW 3007H - Problem-solving in a Complex and Diverse Community
  • 0.5 SOCI 1001H - Introduction to Sociology I: Critical Foundations
  • 0.5 SOCI 1002H - Introduction to Sociology II: Exploring Social Life
  • 4.5 additional credits, including:
    • At least 1.5 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s);
    • No more than 2.5 credits at the 1000 level.

*Additional notes: 

  • Fulfilling the requirements above lead to a Bachelor of Arts in Policing and Community Well-being. Students interested in completing the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Policing and Community Well-being must complete 14.0 credits at Trent University. Consultation with an academic advisor and the Academic Calendar about differing degree requirements are strongly encouraged.
  • Students may take only one of PLCW 4004Y or 4005Y for credit.
  • CHYS-COMM 2010H and SOCI 2151H are equivalent to PLCW 2100H for program requirements but do not count as Policing and Community Well-being credit. Students who have successfully completed CHYS-COMM 2010H or SOCI 2151H are not permitted to take PLCW 2100H but must substitute another PLCW credit at the 2000 level or beyond in order to fulfill degree requirements. 
  • Students are encouraged to include one of SOCI 2430H - Sociology of Gender, 2610H - Deviance and Social Control, or 2615H - Crime and Society as electives for the degree.

The agreement will be reviewed annually, or sooner in the event of major curriculum changes in either partner’s programs. This agreement may be terminated by either party. In this case, notice of one year is required. In the event of termination of the agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.
