  • successfully completed Niagara College’s Environmental Technician diploma;
  • a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students are required to complete the following 13.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Environmental and Resource Science degree:

  • 0.5 ERSC 2080H - Natural Science Statistics
  • 0.5 ERSC 2090H - Introduction to Geographical Information Systems
  • 0.5 ERSC 2220H - Environmental Assessment: Chemical and Laboratory Methods 
  • 0.5 ERSC 2240H - Ecological Assess Natural Resource
  • 0.5 ERST 3000H - Environmental Professional Practice
  • 0.5 MATH 1051H - Non-Calculus Statistics 1: Elementary Probability and Statistics 
  • 0.5 credit from the following:
    • 0.5 ERSC 1040H - Earth's Physical Processes and Environments; 
    • 0.5 ERSC 1050H - Introduction to Climate Change Science and Policy;
    • 0.5 ERST 1030H - Human Geographies in Global Context;
    • 0.5 SAFS 1001H - Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems.
  • 5.0 additional Environmental and Resource Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
  • 1.0 additional Environmental and Resource Studies credit at the 2000 level or beyond in addition to the above
  • 0.5 credit from the Trent School of Environment Capstone Course List
  • 3.0 elective credits, including at least 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List

Additional notes: 

  • Courses without specified year levels must include at least 1.5 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s), and no more than 3.5 credits at the 1000 level. Choice credits must also include at least 1.0 Science credit to be eligible for the Bachelor of Science (Honours). 
  • Trent University also offers a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Environmental and Resource Studies. Requirements for the Environmental and Resource Studies degree program differ from those listed above. Students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) are referred to the Academic Calendar to reference the requirements.
  • Elective credits may be reduced, depending on the credit weighting of the selected Trent School of Environment Capstone Course List. The Capstone Course List is as follows:

The agreement will be reviewed annually to ensure that it is current. This agreement may be terminated by either party. In this case, notice of one year is required. In the event of termination of the agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.
