Types of Credit Awarded

Residency Requirements

BA - 30 credits, BSW - 60 credits, BSc - 60 credits, BBA - 60 credits.

Currency/Timing of Previous Postsecondary Education

Provides students with an indicator of the currency required to utilize their previously completed postsecondary education for transfer credit.

Algoma University will consider all university courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency. In addition, diplomas completed 5-7 years prior to the creation of an articulation agreement will be considered under current agreements.

PLAR Costs

Provides students with the cost of completing a PLAR assessment (challenge exam, course challenge, portfolio, etc.).

A PLAR assessment at Algoma University costs $200.00 per course and the fee is non-refundable.

Appearance of Awarded Transfer Credit(s) on Transcript

Provides students with the code(s) used to record transfer credits on their transcript and an indication of whether these credits will be included in GPA calculation.

55TC - they will not be included in grade calculation, reflected as a "P" for pass.

Unofficial transcripts will receive a conditional transfer credit assessment. A final official transcript is required for an official assessment.

An application form is not required at Algoma University. Applicants who have previously attended a postsecondary institution are automatically assessed for transfer credit.

Deadline(s) for Application

Transfer credit is automatically assessed at Algoma University. Students must disclose all previous postsecondary education (transcripts) upon submitting their admissions application. All required supporting documentation should be submitted in accordance with the deadlines associated with your program of study and semester of admission.

Timing of Transfer Credit Decisions

Transfer credit will be processed and applied prior to course registration, upon receiving the final official transcript with an accepted offer.
